Reading the magazine The Economist

I am sorry that sometimes I have to write some articles in my native language, I mean in chinese. But only some articles about my personal life would be so. The Economist 是我最喜欢的国际政治经济类杂志,没有之一。说起开始读的时候,还是受老公的影响。那时候刚刚大学毕业,工作上又完全用不到英语,总觉得自己好low,和周围的环境格格不入。后来老公又很快去了德国留学,把我一个人留在那样的环境里。我唯一的爱好便是细细的读他爱读的economist,按现在流行的说法,就是feel connected。是的,一种和西方自由主义思潮的connection,也是和他的灵魂的connection。 在我的记忆里,还有一种当时的情愫挥之不去。记得连大学六级都屡考不过的我,当时对英语阅读是没有任何好感的。我总觉得,连考卷上的小块阅读理解都没法顺畅理解的我,怎么可能看得懂native的人写出来的政治经济评论文章?Are you kidding me? 可是当我真的去认真翻阅这些文章的时候,你会发现,不认识的词汇是有的,不理解的句子也是有的,但并不妨碍你整体的阅读和领会。我当时的感受真的似乎是一盏小灯在脑海里被点亮了。因为我发现我可以,可以理解和阅读这些文章了。也许这就像一个色盲了一辈子的人,却突然看到了颜色。或许他可能依然只是看到一部分的颜色,可是这样的改变已经够大了。 我并没有觉得国内的出版物匮乏,言论一致,但我总觉得,多看看各家的不同之言,才更能理解自己,理解这个世界,完善价值观和评判标准。 最后奉上这期封面。
